I got to install the computers!<\/p>\n<p>Couple interesting things about the city of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmira-ny.com\/\">Elmira, NY<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>a) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tommy.com\/\">Tommy Hilfiger<\/a> got his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepaintedlady.net\/history.htm\">start<\/a> here.<\/p>\n<p>[updated] b)  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;q=mark+twain\">Mark Twain<\/a> wrote his best books just up the hill from Elmira College [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmira.edu\/about\/history.shtml\">source<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>c) um yeah&#8230; nothing more.<\/p>\n<p>I spent 10 minutes poking around Elmira&#8217;s network&#8230; Elmira College uses <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipswitch.com\/products\/IMail_Server\/\">Imail<\/a> as <a href=\"http:\/\/mcgraw.elmira.edu:8383\/\">their<\/a> web-based email tool&#8230; along w\/ some templates from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.humankindsystems.com\/\">HKSI<\/a>.  Students login to the campus network whereupon a batch script of some kind is run (presumably setting up IP\/security stuff) which gives them a mapped drive to store data on some server, which I thought was cool.  You don&#8217;t have to worry about your PC\/laptop crashing because you can always backup homework or papers to your mapped drive and maybe more importantly, you can access your homework\/term papers from any computer on the campus.  Wow have campus networks have changed since I&#8217;ve graduated (and it&#8217;s only been 5 years!) Oh yeah, and each student gets their own website (none of which appear to be available publicly).  <\/p>\n<p>How come the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elmira.edu\/about\/fa_locator.shtml\">faculty<\/a> don&#8217;t have their own sites!
